Unidentified Fishing Objects
    
   

Some very strange items have been pulled out of the river over the years, but imagine Jim Brockie's surprise at finding a jet-black jaw bone complete with teeth in peg 5 (Sunday 16th Juy 2014).

This unknown fishing object has now been identified by the good people at Evesham's Almonry Museum:

'Left maxilla nasal bone of a juvenile (less than 12 months) domestic oxen. Wild giant oxen (extinct late bronze age) have been found in river sediments, but the consultant suspects this to be domestic. It is difficult to date without other evidence.'

So there you have it folks... something older than all the Vetern anglers!
